What we collect
Reading analytics. If analytics is enabled, we use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and understand which guides, topics and searches are useful. Google sets first-party cookies such as _ga containing a randomly generated client identifier. We do not send your name, email address or the text of a search that looks like an email address to analytics.
Newsletter. If the newsletter is open, the address you submit is sent to the newsletter provider shown on the sign-up form so we can send the digest and manage unsubscribes. We do not use the address for anything else.
Server logs. Our hosting and content delivery providers process standard request information — IP address, browser type, requested URL and timestamps — to serve the site, keep it secure and diagnose failures.
Email. If you contact the editorial desk, we receive your address and message so we can reply.
Cookies and advertising
Analytics cookies are used only when analytics is configured. You can block or delete them in your browser, or install Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking analytics does not stop you reading any guide.
The site currently shows labelled, reserved advertising space and does not load an advertising network. If a network is added, this page will be updated before any advertising cookie is set.
Who processes data
The site is hosted on Vercel, content is served from Cloudflare, and analytics is provided by Google. A newsletter provider processes addresses only when the newsletter is enabled. These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.
How long data is kept
Analytics data is retained according to the property's configured retention period. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Editorial correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle the request.
Your choices
You can ask us to delete a newsletter address or an email you sent, or ask what information we hold about you, by writing to hello@better-living-guide.com. Newsletter emails include an unsubscribe link. You can also control cookies in your browser.
Children
The site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will change and the new policy will be published on this page before the change takes effect.
